We are now offering the Heron Dance edition of The Man Who Planted Trees, Generosity of Spirit as a Source of Happiness to nonprofits for use in their fundraising and development efforts. This, one of our most popular books, features Roderick MacIver's nature art in full color throughout. It also contains long excerpts from a number of interviews conducted over the the last fifteen years with Frederic Back, creator of the film The Man Who Planted Trees. Frederic Back received dozens of awards for his film, including The Grand Prize of the Annecy Film Festival and an Oscar. The Heron Dance edition is printed on 100% post consumer recycled paper and was printed domestically.
An interview of Frederic Back was the first article in the first issue of Heron Dance and his work has been a major inspiration to our work.
The Man Who Planted Trees tells the story of two men—one younger, one older—who encounter each other in the mountains. The older man is a shepherd and tree-planter; the younger man is in search of adventure or perhaps on a personal quest. Over several decades, as result of occasional contact between the two, the Shepherd shapes the hiker's perception of what is important in life.
From time to time, Heron Dance also donates notecards, calendars and dayplanners to nonprofits to support their fundraising efforts. We announce these donations in our free weekly e-newsletter, A Pause
for Beauty. Approximately 26,000 people have signed up to receive this e-newsletter.
We make these efforts and donations in support of our mission, which is to foster and celebrate the human connection to the natural world. We very much appreciate the efforts that the organizations we support make to make their base aware of our work. Call us at 888-304-3766, ext 0
or email Emma (emma@herondance.org) to discuss.
We offer a number of books and notecards
at significant discounts for use by non-profits for membership and donor premiums.
You can sell or give away these items for the general support of your organization,
but they may not be resold to another business (to do so would conflict with
our agreement with our wholesale distributor, Adventure Publications). Discounts
on all books and notecards for non-profits are very significant. We prefer that organizations prepay (we will consider taking checks if it is your only payment option). Discounts apply to most items offered on our website. Please browse our site and give us
a call when you are ready to place an order. To
