Photographs and Essays by Ethan Hubbard
We've interviewed Ethan four or five times over the years and excerpted those interviews in a number of issues. Ethan is a world traveler and photographer. He seeks out people who live simply and close to the land on farms and in tiny remote communities. Many are indigenous. He lives for a period of weeks or months with the people he photographs and writes about, sleeping in their barns or camping out in their fields. These sojourns have been the subject of several books. His work is inspired by his deep affinity for gentle, hospitable people.
Grandfather's Gift was made by Ethan for his two granddaughters—a record in words and photographs of his travels over the last forty years.
