Heron Dance is in Monkton, also known as Monkton Ridge, which is between Bristol and Hinesburg on a road called Bristol Road at one point, Monkton Road at another and Silver Street at another.

The mail box in front of the house has 179 and 179a on it. The road sign “Hummingbird Lane” is at the end of the driveway.

The Heron Dance Gallery and office are up above the garage. The door is around to the left side of the garage.

Getting To Hinesburg:

Take the Williston exit (exit 12) off 89. Turn south onto St. George (2a), driving away from Tafts Corners. In 5 miles, at the T, turn left. Within 2 or three miles you’ll come to Hinesburg.
From Hinesburg, Traveling south through Hinesburg turn right off of 116 onto Silver Rd.

THE MOST PROBLEMATIC PART OF THESE DIRECTIONS IS THE FOLLOWING TURN:

Headed south on 116 through the town of Hinesburg, turn right or south at a large intersection that veers off the main road right across from Good Times Cafe. (About 1/4 mile past Lantman’s IGA) If you travel past the Hinesburg Elementary school on your right, you have just missed the turn.
Then travel 5.5 miles to Monkton Ridge, taking a hard right onto Davis Rd. You know that you are getting close when you pass a red barn on your left that has Norris Farmstand painted on the end of the barn. You’ll travel up a hill and Davis will be on your right.
If you pass the Monkton General Store on the left, or Town office on the right, you’ve gone about 100 yards too far.
On Davis go up 100 yards then turn left again on Rotax
100 yards turn left again on Hummingbird Lane (179 Rotax Road).
We’re up lane 230 feet. Grey/Blue House — in the summer it is difficult to see from the road because of the trees.

From Bristol

Turn north at the main intersection — the only one with the traffic light and continue north to the center of Monkton Ridge.
Bristol is about 10 miles from Monkton Ridge.
Continue 100 yards past town office and the Monkton General Store.
Turn West, (or left if coming from south), on Davis Road
100 yards turn left again on Rotax Road.
100 yards turn left again on Hummingbird Lane (179 Rotax Road).
We’re up 230 feet up the lane. Gray House — it is difficult to see from the road.
The Heron Dance offices are through the door marked Heron Dance — the first door on the right. The green door and the door beside the garage doors are to a private apartment.

From Middlebury

Here are the easiest, no dirt road directions from Middlebury. The fastest, dirt road directions are at the bottom of this page.
Travel North about 2.5 miles out of Middlebury on Rt 7.
Take a right onto River Rd. (This is the last right before the highway dips down and crosses the New Haven at the Dog Team Road
Travel to the end of River Rd (About 5 miles) and turn left onto Rt 116.
Traveling North on Rt 116 for about 2 1/4 miles, you will come to a 4 way stop with a flashing red light.
Go straight across the intersection.
The road becomes Burpee Rd after you cross.
Travel on Burpee for about 2 miles or less to its end.
Turn left at Bristol Rd. and follow that for 5 – 6 miles.
You will come into Monkton Boro.
On your right will be the Monkton General store.
Travel about a 100 yards past the store to take your first left onto Davis Rd.
After 1/10 on Davis, take a left onto Rotax Rd.
After another 1/10 on Rotax, take a left into Hummingbird Lane (Black Mailbox says 179)
This is the Heron Dance driveway.
The Heron Dance offices are through the door marked Heron Dance — the brown (imitation wood) door straight ahead. The door to the right is to a private apartment.
To find Rod’s office and studio walk around the side of the double car garage. There is a door and stairway to his space towards the back of the garage.

Faster, dirt road directions from Middlebury:

North on Highway 7 through New Haven Junction then right on Lime Kiln, then right on Monkton Road, left on Pond Road, right on Rotax Road. Heron Dance is up a couple of hundred yards on the right.
